Word Smith: Friend

Jesus said, “If we don’t make any time for friends, we won’t have any.”

Did he mean Time or Friends or both? Probably both.

As Walter Winchell so eloquently said, “A friend is one who walks in, when others walk out.” How true is that?

When someone accepts a gift, he admits another into his world and is ready to give him a place in his own being. If someone gives a painting to his friend, he asks his friend to give it a place in his own home. … When the gift is accepted, it acquires a place in the life of the other.” — Henri Nouwen
