Tales from the Camino: Statues

There is an extraordinary collection of interior art in the churches, galleries, and hotels in Spain. They seem to overshadow the equally magnificent art that is outside in the elements and part of the public works. Water fountains, ponds, honorary statues, and outdoor art are everywhere. Every city has a plaza dedicated to their heroes lost in wars. Every peak has its cross with the memory of those who are loved. The cemeteries are full of art dedicated to the lives of relatives.

This post is a collection of outside art (for the most part) we found along the Camino. The art is part whimsical and part serious, part toughness and part grit, part humility and part humiliation. In every case the art is interesting and thought provoking. Hopefully it will be all these things for you.
